Colour and design (Card making).

text placeholder-3

I’m sure by now you will see a trend with my creative habits, I like working with a certain colour pallete and I tend to start out with one idea and just develop it as I create.  My aim today was to create some masculine cards so I went with navy and white for this first lot of cards.

Navy and white is such a classic combination that I love in most areas, especially in my home decor.  I find it easy to create cards when I’m just using a simple combination.

Rooted in Nature is such a versatile set and I went on to expand my designs using sahara sand card stock. I think that these are great designs for both men and women.

linda l desgns

Rooted in nature allows you so many options especially for designer backgrounds.  I will show a few of my other designs below.  With the next group of cards I thought I would go for colour and I hope I have shown you how versatile one stamp set can be.

linda l designs-26

Next I couldn’t help but get some pink…if you are ever stuck for a colour combo just add pink to the mix and you will never look back!

linda l designs-27

What do you think? I love the pink and sahara sand combination. Next week I will show you some other interesting colour combinations that really work.

Hope you enjoy!

Much love

Crafting art!

Inspiration from Kelly Rae Roberts and others.

This is my way of creating fun art that can be framed, turned into cards or made for book or box covers.  Simple creative ways to use up scraps of paper and fabric.  A great process to develop your drawing and painting skills with simple lines and basic tools.  You will have some amazing results and so much fun creating!  Ideal for art journalling pages too!

I have created three different designs ( I call my angel girls), two that covered shoe boxes and one framed which will eventually go into my art journal when I’m ready to create something different.

Materials needed:

Heavy duty paper or card board

Water colour paper

Water colours (paints)

White Gesso

Gold acrylic paint

Brushes

Matt Gel

Scraps of designer paper or old magazines

Here are several designs I created in one morning of painting, gluing and just having fun.

Simply with love…

This is a simple way to use old stamp sets in new ways.  Sometimes we don’t need or want to go out and buy new stamps.  I believe in getting the most use you possibly can from what you have on your shelves.  So for me when the #simplestamping challenge came up,  I  looked at what I had  available and created this little card.  I’m so pleased with the end result and its a perfect valentines card and super cute too!

Then I realised that many of you wont have this set so I took a current set and created another simple card :

linda l designs-19

“You sure know how to make someone happy” is on the front – “my little honey bee” (could easily be put inside the card)! There you have it,  a valentines card in a very untraditional way.  This card has a little wink of stella over each bumble- bee and looks rather fetching as the light catches each bee.  These are easy projects to try at home.

You will need:

Whisper white card

Black memento ink

Dragonfly Dreams stamp set

Wink of Stella

What makes something simple? Really its just going back to basics and in card making that means stamps on card and using the most basic of equipment, scissors, card, ink and adhesive.  Its a great way to get started in a creative pursuit of card making and designing. Here are some others I’ve created using  current stamp sets:

Something like this would be a fabulous starter for a friend or relative:

Calypso Coral classic stamp pad

Calypso Coral stampin blends

Make a difference stamp set

2″ circle punch

Lemon Lime Twist classic stamp pad

Lemon Lime Twist card stock

Whisper White Card stock

I love a blue and white design on anything! So here is a simple elegant card anyone can recreate. Its easy and beautiful…

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Please feel free to buy from my store , if you purchase from my store you will get a gift from myself and a catalogue sent right to your door.

Happy stamping!

Beautiful You!

I never get tired of this set, the images just continue to inspire me.  The images are alway crisp and look so effortless when stamped on card.  I used brusho and water colour paper to create these two cards.  I also used clear embossing powder over my memento black ink, allowing to brusho right over the image.

Check out my video below:

This one was created again with memento black ink and clear embossing powder and coloured with my Stampin’ Blends.  When using embossing powder over my ink I always use my Stamparatus.

This is a fun stamp set that allows for lots of opportunity to play with colour.  Perfect for blends these fun characters come to life with your Stampin blends! This set  Animal Outing is wonderful to have and as an Australian Stampin’ Up demonstrator, I really appreciate our little Kangaroo and Koala.

I have not only made cards from this stamp set but great tags for bags and school books. I just laminate these for a sturdy finish after name is put on.  Easy to make and certainly something the kids could do over the summer holidays.

simple stamping

Keep it simple!  We have all heard that before and let me tell you that in all areas of design…simple just works!  That doesn’t mean that all design should be simple but keeping things simple can really keep a project on track.  Knowing when enough is enough can be a tough place to be and by planning a simple project in the beginning …can save you a whole lot of card stock later on.

linda l designs-6

How to keep it simple:

Choose you stamp set

Choose 3 colours and (white or black)

To give dimension use several mounts, as above I used a frame of blushing bride then whisper white and propped it all onto a blushing bride background using dimensionals, then onto whisper white card base.

The bow was in my stash of stamped extras that I keep at hand but quite easily you could just use something from the same stamp set …to keep it simple! You can see this with the card pictured below.

linda-l-designs-7.png

To make this project you will need:

Wink of stella glitter brush

Tranquil Tulips

Blushing Bride cardstock

Whisper white cardstock

Inks used:

Balmy Blue

Blushing Bride

Lemon Lime Twist

STAMPIN’ DIMENSIONALS

Another simple technique added to this card was my wink of stella, which I added over the base of the flower petals, this gives a lovely sparkly glow!

Hope you enjoyed this post and try your hand at simple stamping, lots of fun and remember….Keep it Simple! You cant go wrong.

Love your life!

My theme for this project became all about love, and loving my life…! 2019 will for me be about living a life I love, creating, painting, drawing and sharing this journey with anyone who who wants to join in the ride!

Art journaling is one of my favourite pass times and to start this project I basically just cut out some pictures and words from old magazines, this gave me my colour pallet.

With these few tools I just went with the flow…the process is what is so freeing about art journaling! We are all so busy in our daily lives and so concerned about creating a perfect life for ourselves and our families, comparing ourselves and our lives to others, it can make for a hectic and sometime disappointing life. Our art journal is all about us and is our personal diary in the form of mixed media…its a wonderful way to let go and truly connect with your inner spirit.

If you haven’t tried this art form you really should give it a go…if you are a crafter you will have more than enough materials at hand, if not, I have a list of basic starters that you can purchase from me or from any discount store.

Check back later for my starter kit details.
